Become an RCI Refurbisher

Qualified commercial and noncommercial computer refurbishers can participate in our RCI program.

  • Donate computers that meet the program's minimum configuration standards
  • Sign a Letter of Agreement that details requirements, expectations, and deliverables for participation in the program

Minimum Configurations

Desktop computers donated for reuse in this program must meet or exceed the following configuration:

  • 800MHz Pentium III
  • 256MB of RAM
  • 20GB HD
  • Internal CD-ROM drive
  • Ethernet NIC Card

Notebook computers donated to this program must meet or exceed the following configuration:

  • 256MB of RAM
  • 20GB internal hard drive
  • Ethernet NIC Card

Benefits of Program Participation

Donor companies can realize the following benefits from participating in the RCI program:

  • Value-added services, including sanitizing hard drives using state-of-the-art practices to ensure data security, maximum extension of the computer’s life to benefit the nonprofit community, and proper recycling of any unusable systems or parts
  • Convenient disposal of outdated equipment with detailed documentation of how these donations mitigate environmental and security risks
  • Reports from TechSoup Stock about the final disposition of the donated computers
  • Public visibility, if desired, for being a leader in following best practices in philanthropy, computer reuse, and recycling

Recycling E-Waste

The RCI program can also accommodate donors looking for a single vendor to accept e-waste in addition to other computer equipment. Our commercial refurbishing partner will dispose of the e-waste and direct the usable equipment for donation to the RCI program.
