This donation includes 1 CD-ROM, for installation on a total of 3 PCs (three licenses per CD-ROM). It also gives an organization a one-year subscription for content updates, such as virus and spyware definitions, and for any new product features. The donation does not include a box or a user guide, but a PDF version of the user guide is available from Symantec's Web site.
Note: Although Symantec does not provide telephone or live-chat technical support for donated products, it does offer free online technical support on its award-winning Web site.
Features
- "SONAR" Technology detects emerging viruses without the need for traditional updates or signature-based definitions.
- Scans, tune-ups, and backups are scheduled to operate in the background when a user's PC is idle and free. Norton Insight identifies trusted files that do not require scanning in order to speed up system scans.
- Firewall protection can be set to use different security settings when connecting to various types of networks, such as the organization's network or a WiFi hotspot.
- The Smart Startup Manager watches the performance impact of programs that launch at startup and run in the background. When it has collected enough data, it advises the user on which items to disable and can also set items to launch after a preset time delay.
- Spam filtering is included as an option that can be activated; parental control and confidential-information blocking are available in a free downloadable add-on pack.
