Norton Internet Security 2009 protects computers from viruses, worms, Trojan horses, botnets, spyware, adware, and hackers. The program automatically scans all incoming and outgoing data and also existing files. In addition to scheduled updates, it now updates protection every 5 to 15 minutes without user interaction. Intrusion-prevention technology shields newly discovered vulnerabilities in Windows and popular applications even before threats are devised to exploit them. Antiphishing protection guards users against visiting websites that try to trick them into divulging valuable personal information.

Free optional anti-spam and parental-control features block unwanted email and restrict user access to websites, newsgroups, and Internet programs.

This donation includes 25 CD-ROMs, but no box or user guide. A PDF version of the user guide is available from Symantec. The donation also includes a one-year subscription for protection and new feature updates.

Limited Eligibility: In addition to the standard TechSoup Limited restrictions, the following eligibility requirements apply to this donation:

• The organization must have an annual operating budget of less than $20 million.
• This donation will not be made available to organizations that support political parties or candidates.
• This donation will not be made available to religious organizations, except that religious organizations requesting software for use in secular community service programs are eligible to receive donations.
• Symantec TechSoup Limited products may not be transferred or resold, except that authorized computer refurbishers may include the TechSoup Limited product on a newly refurbished computer that will be acquired by a nonprofit or charity organization that is otherwise eligible for this donation.
