Description
Norton AntiVirus 2009 protects computers from botnets, viruses, worms, Trojan horses, and spyware. The program scans existing files as well as all incoming and outgoing data without interrupting the user. In addition to scheduled updates, it now updates protection every 5 to 15 minutes against the latest threats without user interaction. It blocks new threats from installing themselves even before their specific signatures have been identified.
This donation includes a one-year subscription for protection and new feature updates. It includes the CD-ROM, but no box or user guide. A PDF version of the user guide is available from Symantec.
Note: Although Symantec does not provide telephone technical support for donated products, it does offer free email and live chat technical support on its award-winning Web site.
Norton AntiVirus 2009 is available in packages of 1, 5, 10, and 25 licenses.

- New in AntiVirus 2009, "pulse protection" automatically updates protection every 5 to 15 minutes.
- Auto-Protect scans all incoming and outgoing email messages and attachments, including compressed files, to ensure they are not infected. It also scans incoming traffic from instant messaging services and removes infections automatically. It reviews the security status of every process.
- Cookie protection detects tracking cookies and gives a user the option to delete or ignore them.
- System scanning improvements let a user continue working on the computer with minimal impact on performance. In addition to the pulse updates, regular scans and updates occur when the computer is idle.
- A recovery tool boots and repairs badly infected computers.

- Donated product will be distributed under this program to qualifying organizations only, not to individuals.
- Two Symantec Desktop products may be requested within a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) and up to 100 licenses for each product.
- This donation is available to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) designation and to public libraries. Public libraries must either have valid 501(c)(3) nonprofit status or be listed in the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) database.
- Eligible organizations must have an annual operating budget of less than $10 million.
- This donation will not be made available to organizations that support political parties and/or candidates.
- This donation will not be made available to religious organizations, except that religious organizations requesting software for use in secular community service programs are eligible to receive donations.
- Organizations that advocate, support, or practice discrimination based on age, ethnicity, gender, national origin, disability, race, size, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background are not eligible to participate in this program. Organizations must be willing and able to attest that they do not discriminate on any of these grounds in order to receive donations.
