Description
The WS-C2960G-24TC-L is one of the Catalyst 2960 series fixed-configuration switches offering Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet connectivity with enhanced LAN services for midsize and branch office networks.
The G-24LC model provides:
- Twenty-10/100/1000Base-T ports for desktop connectivity
- Four dual-purpose uplink ports, each having one 10/100/1000 Ethernet port and one Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) Gigabit Ethernet port, with one active at a time.
- Note: SFP connectivity requires an adapter such as the GLC-FE-100FX transceiver.
The LAN Base feature set includes a rich Layer 2+ suite of intelligent services, including advanced quality of service (QoS), granular rate limiting, and access control lists (ACLs), and multicast services.
Security is delivered through a wide range of authentication methods, data encryption technologies, and Network Admission Control (NAC) based on users, ports, and MAC addresses.
There are two options for switch management: an embedded GUI device manager for all operating systems and the Windows-based Cisco Network Assistant available at no cost from the Cisco Web site http://www.cisco.com/go/cna.
Addition management is available through Cisco Works SNMP network-management software. CiscoWorks for Switched Internetworks provides end-to-end device, VLAN, traffic, and policy management. The Web-based CiscoWorks Resource Manager Essentials enables automated inventory collection, software deployment, easy tracking of network changes, views into device availability, and quick isolation of error conditions.

Features
- Enhancements to the standard Spanning Tree Protocol, such as Per-VLAN Spanning Tree Plus (PVST+), UplinkFast, and PortFast, help to maximize network uptime.
- Multilayer QoS features help ensure that network traffic is classified and prioritized, and that congestion is avoided in the best possible manner.
- Each dual-purpose uplink port allows connection either through copper Ethernet or fiber-optic cables (fiber-optic requires an SPF adapter).
- Express Setup simplifies initial configuration of a switch through a Web browser.
- ACLs can be used to restrict access to sensitive portions of the network by denying packets based on source and destination MAC addresses, IP addresses, or TCP/User Datagram Protocol (UDP) ports. ACL lookups are done in hardware, so forwarding performance is not compromised when implementing ACL-based security.

Restrictions
- This donation is available only to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) designation.
- Donated product will be distributed under this program to qualifying organizations only, not to individuals.
- To be eligible for a Cisco donation, an organization must have an annual budget of no more than $7,500,000 (your organization's most recent total revenue as reported on your IRS 990 or other tax form), have a unique U.S. Employer Identification Number (EIN), and fall within one of the Cisco-approved nonprofit categories listed below.
- An organization may receive no more than one donation of Cisco products per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
- Grants that are donated within three months of a sale are not considered as a donation by the IRS; instead, the IRS considers these products an additional discount to the sale. Therefore, TechSoup Stock donations cannot be given to organizations that have purchased Cisco equipment within the last three months or that plan to purchase Cisco equipment within the next three months. TechSoup Stock donations done in conjunction with a Cisco sale are not allowed.
- Administrative fees for Cisco equipment received by a single organization may total no more than $800 per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) — up to a $10,000 retail value in all.
- An organization must be willing and able to demonstrate that technology is a budgeted line item and must be able to state the amount of such budgeted line item.

- All Cisco products except Linksys equipment include five years of Cisco SMARTnet service and support on both hardware and software. After that coverage expires, donation recipients are strongly encouraged to renew their SMARTnet service and support agreement annually, for as long as they own the equipment or until that equipment is declared End Of Life (EOL) and no longer supported by Cisco. (PCMCIA and PCI cards alone do not require a SMARTnet contract.)
- Cisco orders may not include non-Cisco item requests. Any non-Cisco items must be ordered separately so they are not subject to the Cisco processing delay.
- Orders may be partially fulfilled: Due to the nature of the network design, product availability, and fiscal year schedules, all product donations are subject to change or delay without notice. Cisco reserves the right to substitute functionally equivalent products for any request or order.
- Cisco products may not be transferred or resold.
