Description

The Maxtor OneTouch II FireWire 800 Edition is a 200-GB external hard drive that connects to a computer via FireWire or USB interfaces. The drive can be used for storing large files like graphics or multimedia, for transferring files to another computer, or for backing up critical data.

The hard drive is enclosed in an anodized aluminum case and includes three interface cables (USB, FireWire 400, and FireWire 800), an external AC power adapter, a vertical stand, a quick-start guide, and two CD-ROMs containing a software suite and a digital user's guide.

This hard drive is preformatted for use with Macintosh computers, but it can be reformatted for use with Windows-based PCs or computers running other operating systems. See your operating system's help for instructions.

The software disc includes device drivers, EMC Dantz Retrospect Express for backup and restore functions, and the Maxtor OneTouch Settings utility. This is older software that can only be installed on computers running compatible Mac or Windows operating systems, but it is not required for the device to function. Organizations with computers running newer operating systems that are not compatible with the software can use the backup utility included with those operating systems.

The drive was originally packaged for the European market. It is repackaged with U.S. connection hardware and has been tested for use in the U.S.
