Description
'ReadyTalk's audio and Web conferencing services allow organizations to meet and collaborate on the phone and on the Web and to record and save their conferences. This product consists of a one-year subscription for discounted audio conferencing, free Web conferencing for up to 15 participants, and other discounted services.
Audio Conferencing Services:
Up to 96 participants can speak to each other toll-free in an audio conference. The conference's chairperson manages the audio conference either from a phone or in a Web browser, but the conference can also be set up to continue if the chairperson leaves or has a dropped connection. Audio conferences can also coincide with Web conferences so that participants can see what they are discussing.
The cost for each participant within the United States and Canada is 6 cents a minute. The cost for participants joining conferences from abroad varies from country to country and from year to year (contact ReadyTalk for current specifics).
Web Conferencing Services:
This subscription allows unlimited free minutes of Web conferencing for a chairperson and 14 participants and a reduced rate (see below) for additional participants. In a ReadyTalk Web conference, all participants can see the same slide show, desktop, or selected application in their Web browsers. Participants can communicate with each other through ReadyTalk's chat windows or through a simultaneous audio conference as described above. Conferences are Web-based, so the only software needed is a Java-enabled browser.
Additional Services Available at Reduced Rates:
Nonprofits that obtain this donation can get additional services at below standard ReadyTalk rates.
- For Web conferences with more than 15 participants, the charge is 15 cents a minute for each additional participant.
- Recording, which requires audio conferencing, is available at 6 cents a minute. Recorded conferences are Flash presentations that can be made into podcasts.
- Subscribers who want ReadyTalk to store their recordings online can use ReadyTalk's Recording Hosting service at the standard rate of 20 cents a month per minute of recording. Otherwise, the recordings can be downloaded and then deleted from the ReadyTalk site.
If your organization uses additional services, ReadyTalk sends an invoice at the end of every month only for the number of minutes used that month. There are no setup or maintenance fees.
Activating a Subscription:
When your request has been approved, an email containing the activation key and instructions on how to activate the subscription will be sent to your organization email address.
Previewing ReadyTalk:
Organizations can preview ReadyTalk in special live demos conducted especially for nonprofits and libraries. ReadyTalk asks that potential donation recipients sign up for these special demos rather than the demos offered to the public on their Web site. The demos are held Mondays and Thursdays at 1 p.m., Wednesdays at 9 a.m., and Fridays at 10 a.m. Mountain time. Important: ReadyTalk also asks organizations not to sign up for the free trials on their site.
Features
- Audio conferencing within the U.S. and Canada is through a toll-free 800 number, so there are no extra per-minute charges. Discounted international toll-free numbers are available in over 80 countries. Dial-out access is available to over 225 countries.
- Reservations are not required. The conference chairperson schedules the conference and generally invites members through an email message or Outlook Calendar invitation.
- Customer support includes free interactive training and 24/7/365 email and phone assistance. Organizations can also dial *0 during a conference for help with that conference.
- Because ReadyTalk conferences are Web-based, no downloads are required for a participant to attend one. A one-time Java scan and potential upgrade (download) are required for a host.
- ReadyTalk is a pay-as-you-go service, with no setup fees or hidden costs.
System Requirements
- See System Requirements on the ReadyTalk Web site.
- For viewing recordings — a Flash Player–enabled browser.
- For audio conferencing with Skype — Skype version 2.5.0.126 or later.
