Description

The GLC-SX-MM is one of Cisco's 1000BASE-SX Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers. These hot-swappable input/output devices plug into a Gigabit Ethernet port or slot, linking the port with the fiber-optic network. This SX model operates on ordinary multimode fiber-optic (MMF) link spans of up to 550 meters in length.

Product service and support: Cisco will provide five years of hardware and software service and support (SMARTnet) for any product or product bundle obtained through this donation program.

More information about this product is available on the Cisco Web site.

    • Hot-swappable when deployed, the switch or router does not have to reboot.
    • Supports the "pay-as-you-populate" model.
    • Interchangeable with other 1000BASE-SX SFPs on the same line card.
    • Supports the Cisco quality ID feature that enables the switch or router to determine whether the SFP is a Cisco-qualified SFP.
    • Optically interoperable with 1000BASE-SX Ethernet interfaces on the same link.
    • Operates on 50-micrometer multimode fiber links up to 550 meters and on 62.5-micrometer FDDI-grade multimode fibers up to 220 meters.

    • Storage temperature range: -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F)

Restrictions

  • This donation is available only to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) designation.
  • Donated product will be distributed under this program to qualifying organizations only, not to individuals.
  • To be eligible for a Cisco donation, an organization must have an annual budget of no more than $7,500,000 (your organization's most recent total revenue as reported on your IRS 990 or other tax form), have a unique U.S. Employer Identification Number (EIN), and fall within one of the Cisco-approved nonprofit categories listed below.
  • Administrative fees for Cisco equipment received by a single organization may total no more than $1200 per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30) — up to a $15,000 retail value in all.
  • An organization may receive no more than one donation of Cisco products per fiscal year (July 1 – June 30).
  • After the TechSoup checkout process is complete, the TechSoup Cisco customer service team might request additional information to verify that the organization matches the Cisco philanthropy guidelines. For example, an organization must be able to show that their focus is serving economically disadvantaged people.
  • Cisco orders may not include non-Cisco item requests. Any non-Cisco items must be ordered separately so they are not subject to the Cisco processing delay.
  • A range of direct-service nonprofit organizations that primarily serve economically disadvantaged people are eligible to receive Cisco donations. Please make sure that your organization's primary mission and services correspond to one of the following organizational types:
    • Health-service support organizations offering any of these types of services:

  • The following organizations are not eligible to receive Cisco donations:
    • Affiliates of a national organization (such as the YMCA, the American Red Cross, and Habitat for Humanity) that has more than twenty locations (even if those affiliates are considered separate entities and are not funded by the national organization)
    • Religious organizations without a secular community designation — A secular designation is defined as an organization separate from the church or religious organization that provides services to people regardless of their religious beliefs and does not propagate a belief in a specific faith. Example: A food bank with nonprofit or charity status that is run by a church but is a separate and unique organization that provides food and meals to anyone who qualifies for services, regardless of religious beliefs.

  • All Cisco products include five years of Cisco SMARTnet service and support on both hardware and software. After that coverage expires, donation recipients are strongly encouraged to renew their SMARTnet service and support agreement annually, for as long as they own the equipment or until that equipment is declared End Of Life (EOL) and no longer supported by Cisco. (PCMCIA and PCI cards alone do not require a SMARTnet contract.)
  • Grants that are donated within three months of a sale are not considered as a donation by the IRS; instead, the IRS considers these products an additional discount to the sale. Therefore, TechSoup Stock donations cannot be given to organizations that have purchased Cisco equipment within the last three months or that plan to purchase Cisco equipment within the next three months. TechSoup Stock donations done in conjunction with a Cisco sale are not allowed.
  • Requests may be partially fulfilled: Due to the nature of the network design, product availability, and fiscal year schedules, all product donations are subject to change or delay without notice. Cisco reserves the right to substitute functionally equivalent products for any request or order.
