Description
ArcPad allows GIS users to capture, edit, analyze, and display geographic data via mobile devices.
In a typical scenario, a user checks out data from ArcGIS Desktop onto a mobile device, takes the device to a location in the field and updates or corrects the data, and then returns to the desktop computer and checks the data back in. However, ArcPad can also be used independently of ArcGIS Desktop.
This donation from ESRI includes ArcPad for one user.
Here are some notable features of this product:
- ArcPad can store data from GPS receivers, range finders, and integrated digital cameras.
- ArcPad supports ArcGIS symbology and style sheets for high-quality mapping on mobile devices.
- The software includes the StreetMap extension, which includes data derived from the Tele Atlas dataset and enables address geocoding and routing.
- The user interface is available in a number of languages.
- Working with ArcPad is a free online training course available to anyone on the ESRI website. It teaches the basic skills necessary for using ArcPad and takes about three hours to complete.
Additional Eligibility Requirements:
Because ArcPad is advanced software, ESRI requires prospective recipients to submit a written statement describing their advanced needs and describing the specific capabilities of ArcPad needed for their intended tasks. These statements will be reviewed by ESRI, who may request further details or clarifications. They must also show that they possess or have ordered compatible mobile hardware and provide the name of the manufacturer and the model number.
More details and links to case studies can be found on the ESRI website to help in evaluating whether this product is what is needed.
