If your organization has a server product with active Software Assurance, you have the right to use Volume License media to install the same software on a "cold" server (one that is turned off until an emergency situation). In a disaster, this server can be moved into production so that users can continue to access critical data and applications. The number of disaster recovery licenses for which you qualify correlates directly to the number of licenses with active Software Assurance.
