Serving Public Libraries with Technology Donations
TechSoup is a nonprofit program that distributes donated and deeply discounted software and technology products to eligible nonprofit organizations and libraries. You can save 80 – 96% on brand-new software donated by top companies. All products are available either for a small administrative fee if donated, or at prices that are deeply discounted.
Each branch of a library system must register with TechSoup individually to request software products, not just the main branch.

Microsoft has partnered with TechSoup to donate a wide variety of software products to public libraries. Microsoft donations for public libraries are intended only for public access computers. For more information, see the Microsoft Restrictions for the Software Donation Program for Nonprofits and Public Libraries.
Over 3,400 U.S. public libraries have taken advantage of product donations at TechSoup since 2004.
Additional Programs Only Available for 501(c)(3) Public Libraries
Besides the programs listed above, if your library has a 501(c)(3) nonprofit designation, you may be eligible to request products from these additional TechSoup donation and discount programs:
- Adobe Software Donation Program
- ClickTime Donation Program
- easyLearning Discount Program
- FileMaker Discount Program
- Huddle Discount Program
Note that fewer than 20% of public libraries have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status, and most of these are concentrated on the East Coast.
Check Your Eligibility
Each of TechSoup's donated and discounted product programs has specific eligibility guidelines. We strongly encourage you to visit the Nonprofit Eligibility Requirements and Donor Partner Restrictions page for each program's requirements before placing a donation request.
Public libraries that are listed in the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) database or have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status are eligible for TechSoup's services. (Note that most public libraries do not have 501(c)(3) nonprofit status.)
IMPORTANT: Each branch of a library system must register with TechSoup individually to request software products, not just the main branch.
