NPC Request and Application Procedure
National Processing Company (NPC) has generously made its credit/debit card processing services available to U.S. nonprofit organizations and public libraries at special discounted rates. After requesting the discounted rate package from TechSoup, organizations must apply for a merchant account with NPC in order to take advantage of the discounted rates.
Step 1: Read NPC's terms and conditions
Read the NPC TechSoup Terms and Conditions document in its entirety. When you sign and submit your application for a merchant account, you agree that you have read and understood these terms and conditions.
Step 2: Complete your donation request on TechSoup
Add NPC Credit Card Processing – Access to Discounted Rates to your cart and complete the request process. Do not request expedited shipping; all shipments will be sent by NPC directly. Save your confirmation number. In the event that your NPC merchant application is not approved, TechSoup will refund the entire administrative fee (see step 6).
Step 3: Download and complete an NPC Merchant Application
When your donation request has been approved, TechSoup will send an email to your organization email address with a link to the pricing schedule, merchant application, and terms and conditions. Download all three documents. If you need additional assistance filling out the application, contact NPC at techsoup@npc.net or (877) 498-0608.
Step 4: Collect copies of the following documents
- Completed NPC Merchant Services Agreement
- Signed copy of the NPC/TechSoup Merchant Service Pricing Schedule
- Voided check (not a temporary check) or a verification of account letter signed by a bank officer
- 501(c)(3) determination letter from the IRS
- State tax exemption form
Step 5: Send documents to NPC
Either fax, email, or mail all necessary documents to one of the following options.

Step 6: NPC will process your Merchant Services Agreement
Application processing takes approximately seven business days from the date NPC receives the completed agreement and other required materials. NPC may contact you with questions during this period in an effort to expedite the process.
NPC will inform TechSoup when your application has been approved. If NPC is unable to approve your application, TechSoup will cancel your request and refund your administrative fee by check. Please allow 10 to 15 business days for refund processing.
Step 7: Contact an NPC Help Desk Representative to set up your terminal
The representative will guide your organization through the process of setting up your physical or virtual terminal so that your organization can begin accepting credit card donations.
