Looking for an office-grade solution to copy, print, scan, fax, or perform all of these functions? IKON, a Ricoh company, offers discounted rates on remanufactured multifunction devices (MFDs) to nonprofits through TechSoup. IKON remanufactured products are less expensive than equivalent new devices and are an environmentally friendly alternative to disposing of used or purchasing new equipment.

About the Remanufactured Products

IKON chooses only those product lines and devices that have had a successful performance record in the field as new machines. They have been remanufactured to meet or surpass the industry's most stringent quality and performance standards as established by the International Organization for Standardization's ISO 9001:2000 certification. The remanufacturing process involves the thorough disassembly, inspection, cleaning, and testing of these devices. During the process, key internal parts are replaced and/or refurbished, with the intention of restoring original performance, appearance and durability to the product. Equipment meters are reset to "0" once total remanufacturing is complete, which is referred to as "zero meter."

Product Pricing

Unlike most discounted products available on TechSoup, IKON discounted products show a zero-dollar administrative fee. However, these products are NOT free. Requesting one of them through TechSoup gives organizations access to discounted rates for products that they then purchase from IKON.

The product descriptions show the price your organization will pay to IKON for the base configuration, one-year service plan, shipping and handling, installation, and power filter. When comparing prices, be sure to evaluate these extras along with all the features and functionality — such as scanning or color output capabilities — included in the IKON configurations available on TechSoup. Also make note of the condition of products available from other sources, as the remanufactured IKON devices available through TechSoup are closer to new condition than refurbished devices. Additionally, TechSoup customers can negotiate optional features and functions directly with IKON.

IKON provides TechSoup with referral fees for fulfilled IKON MFD orders. These fees allow TechSoup to offer donated and discounted technology products as efficiently as possible and at the lowest possible cost.

IKON's One-Year Service Plan

All discounted products acquired from IKON through this program require the customer to sign and agree to the terms of a master maintenance and sales agreement (MMSA). See this summary of MMSA terms. The MMSA provides for service and repairs on the product, including toner replacement, and also holds the recipient liable for overage charges accrued by exceeding the MMSA's limits on printed documents for a given time period. Details for these charges are available on each configuration's TechSoup product page.

The IKON MMSA covering the products acquired through this program includes service for one year based on an average image quantity per quarter. Overages are charged at a cost per image (see product descriptions for details) and are billed on a quarterly basis and paid directly to IKON. Certain supplies, such as paper, ordered directly from IKON are not covered by the MMSA and will be billed separately by IKON.

IKON Request and Application Procedure

Since IKON rather than TechSoup will handle order fulfillment, the request process for this program is different from standard TechSoup requests.

When you complete the check-out process with IKON products in your cart, TechSoup will forward your request for discounted rates to IKON. IKON may request that you complete a credit application. They will also contact you to verify your address and to confirm the configuration and pricing of your requested products.

Via email or fax, you will be sent contract documents that you will need to sign and return to IKON (the MMSA and sales order). Order processing will take 10 to 12 days after IKON receives the contract documents.

When the contracts are complete, your IKON products will be delivered from one of IKON's regional distribution centers. You will be contacted by an IKON representative to coordinate delivery date and time.

Upon your acceptance of the delivered products, payment to IKON is required within 10 days. Payment methods are check or credit card.

Delivery, Warranty Coverage, and Returns

To find out when you can expect to receive your products, first refer to TechSoup FAQ Question 5.2. IKON order processing will take 10 to 12 business days after contract documents have been returned to IKON. IKON will confirm the delivery date with 24 hours' advance notice.

All IKON MFDs include a 90-day limited warranty and a one-year MMSA, which covers select supplies, service, and support. No products may be returned to IKON, without prior written approval. Replacement products may be provided if necessary for defective units at IKON's discretion within the warranty period.

If you want to cancel or change your TechSoup request, check its status as described in TechSoup FAQ Question 6.2. If your products have not been shipped, you can cancel the entire request by clicking the "Cancel Order" link next to your TechSoup order number. If the IKON products on your request have a status of "shipped," the order has already been sent to IKON. You will have to contact IKON at (408) 546-2753 or techsoup@ikon.com to cancel or change your order.
