Volume Licensing Service Center — Maintaining Your Account
Published on January 19, 2011
This page describes how to manage the permission roles, how to add an Open License to your VLSC profile if you are not the administrator, and how to change your account profile.
Permission Roles
The person who creates a VLSC account automatically becomes the administrator for the licensing IDs in that account. In many cases, an organization wants to have an additional administrator or wants to assign certain permissions to others.
Permission roles must be assigned separately for each licensing ID. Since each request you make through TechSoup has a different licensing ID, permissions must be reassigned for each new request.
For more information, see the Permissions FAQ at the VLSC site.
Adding Open Licenses
Because many Open License customers are small organizations, Microsoft established a simplified method to grant management permissions to an already-registered account. The person adding the license must know the license number and authorization number for the donation and must have permission from the owner to manage the account.
To add Open Licenses:
- Sign into the VLSC.
- Choose Administration > Add Open License. The Add Open License page appears.
- Complete the page and click Submit. The VLSC will send an email message to the owner checking that this was allowed.
- Unless the owner objects, you can log in to the VLSC again in 24 hours to accept the terms and conditions of the Open License Agreement and begin managing the account.
Changing Profile Information
If the VLSC account owner leaves the organization or gets a new email address, VLSC customer service can change the email address of record. Find their contact information at the Help page. You do not need to be signed in at the VLSC to access this page.
VLSC customer service can't change the organization name or street address. However, there is seldom a need to update this information, since it is not important for activities managed through the website. If you find a situation in which the information must be changed, contact the TechSoup Account Management group. They can help get the changes made, although it might take a while.
