This offer gives nonprofit organizations and public libraries access to Sage Payment Solutions hardware and services at special rates lower than standard market values. This TechSoup offer facilitates organizations' access to the discounted rates, but organizations pay Sage Payment Solutions directly for the discounted hardware and services.
Sage Payment Solutions' offer provides reduced rates for:
- Credit/debit card, check, and mobile payment processing services, with card present or not present, including e-commerce transactions
- Credit/debit card and check processing equipment, including a virtual terminal for e-commerce use and an optional card reader that attaches to mobile devices
- Check verification services, for screening checks and check writers
- Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS) compliance certification, to comply with payment industry standards for securing credit card information
The Sage Payment Processing Pricing Schedule shows the standard fees for customers from TechSoup. Some organizations may be able to negotiate lower rates with Sage Payment Solutions, depending on transaction volume. There are no monthly minimum transaction fees for customers from TechSoup. Sage Payment Solutions deposits all credit/debit sales and donations into the organization's bank account within one to two business days and deposits all checks within three business days. Checks verified but not processed by Sage Payment Solutions still need to be deposited in the bank by the organization.
Payment processing or check verification through Sage Payment Solutions requires a physical countertop terminal, access to Sage Payment Solutions' web-based virtual terminal, or access to Sage Mobile Payments' mobile-device-based payment processing service. This offer includes special pricing for certain countertop terminals, free access to the Sage Virtual Terminal, and special rates for Sage Mobile Payment hardware and services:
- The Ingenico iCT220 countertop terminal and the VeriFone Vx510LE countertop terminal are durable compact terminals that offer complete transaction processing through an analog phone line or Internet connection.
- The Sage Virtual Terminal provides web-based computer payment processing through the Sage Gateway, an Internet payment gateway solution. It also provides free online reporting. An organization can add the Sage Virtual Terminal's shopping cart or Donate Now button to its website to simplify web-based donations. The Sage Virtual Terminal integrates directly with Sage software, such as Peachtree Premium Accounting for Nonprofits, and other third-party software. For more customized solutions, Sage Payment Solutions' API can interface with most popular e-commerce server applications. The API is available at no cost after registering at www.sagepayments.net/developer. An organization can use Sage Virtual Terminal for both card-not-present and swiped retail transaction processing. Swiped transactions can be processed with MagTek readers, which connect to a computer and are available for purchase or rental from Sage Payment Solutions.
- Sage Mobile Payments provides payment processing services that can be used with mobile phones or tablets. See the full list of supported devices, which includes iPhone, iPad, BlackBerry, and Android-based products. Swiped transactions can be securely processed with an optional credit card reader that attaches to the device, which is available for purchase from Sage Payment Solutions. Sage Mobile Payments also provides access to a web interface for securely entering credit card data from a computer with Internet access. Sage Mobile Payments can be used in combination with other Sage Payment Solutions services or used separately.
Hardware purchases include a 30-day warranty, but replacement programming and shipping costs may apply.

Length of Agreement
Organizations may choose either a three-year agreement or a month-to-month agreement.
- Three-year agreement: Organizations choosing the three-year agreement must agree to the terms and conditions of the Sage Payment Solutions Merchant Agreement. This agreement is between the recipient organization and Sage Payment Solutions: TechSoup is not a party to it.
- Month-to-month agreement: Organizations choosing the month-to-month agreement must agree to the terms and conditions of the Sage Payment Solutions Merchant Agreement plus the month-to-month amendment. This agreement is between the recipient organization and Sage Payment Solutions: TechSoup is not a party to it.
Automatic Renewal

Three-year agreement: The agreement is automatically renewed for another two years at the end of the initial period unless the organization provides 90 days' written notice prior to the end date as specified in the Terms and Conditions. This written notice is required even if the service has been suspended as described next.
Customers from TechSoup may have the service suspended and reactivated from month to month. The service fee is waived for months when the service is suspended. Requests for suspension must be made in writing and must indicate the exact date range for which service should be suspended. - Month-to-month agreement: The agreement is automatically renewed monthly unless the organization provides 30 days' written notice prior to the expiration of the then-current term.
PCI Certification
Credit card companies require any U.S. organization that processes, stores, or transmits credit card data to comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). Sage Payment Solutions offers PCI DSS certification through its partnership with Trustwave — a certified Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) and Authorized Scanning Vendor (ASV) — for a $50 annual fee. Organizations can decline the program if they are certified in some other way; however, organizations will be required to pay a $10 fee to Sage Payment Solutions to validate an existing certificate.
Choose Carefully
The administrative fee for this product is not refundable unless Sage Payment Solutions denies an organization's application for discounted rates. No exchange is possible.
Obtaining This Product
You will need to take further action to obtain this product after your donation request has been approved. TechSoup will send instructions to your organization email address.
Each organization must fill out an online application for a merchant services account directly with Sage Payment Solutions. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, be an officer or director of their organization, and have an organization checking account to receive funds. Access to the discounted rates will be granted once the application is processed, which might take up to two business days.
