QuickBooks Made Easy for Nonprofits: The Essentials is CD-ROM-based training that demonstrates how to set books up correctly, enter transactions common to nonprofits, and create nonprofit-specific reports. These tasks can be done with all 2013 versions of QuickBooks for Windows and Mac and the online versions. The product consists of a CD-ROM with about five hours of video lessons. The disc is accompanied by a printed follow-along handbook that can be used with the video lessons or separately.
The CD-ROM can be used by anyone in the organization. However, it must be installed on the trainee's computer and can only be used by one person at a time.
Benefits for Organizations
Organizations that don’t yet use QuickBooks can learn the best way to set up their Chart of Accounts and their programs. The ideal setup will match the IRS 990 reporting requirements and correctly prepare for financial statement audits.
Novice QuickBooks users can learn efficient ways to enter transactions that are common to nonprofits.
Those who want to improve how their organization uses QuickBooks can learn to create reports that:
- Show how the organization’s programs are performing
- Compare performance to the annual budget
- Track restricted grants and pledges
- Track membership dues and student tuitions
Development personnel can learn to record donor contact and history information and retrieve that information as donor analysis reports and reminders to call. This information can be exported to Microsoft Word for tasks such as generating year-end donor acknowledgments.
Recipients of this donation will be given a 30-day option to obtain a phone support plan for $100. Support plans last for a period of one year and include an unlimited number of phone calls. Each organization will be assigned its own U.S.-based QuickBooks expert. These experts are trained on transactions specific to nonprofits and understand their unique tracking and reporting needs.
