Learning Accounting Essentials takes users step by step through the basics of accounting, using QuickBooks Simple Start to demonstrate them. Using audio and video, this 2-1/2-hour CD-ROM presents basic accounting concepts and tasks in a way that avoids technical jargon. This package includes a copy of the full version of QuickBooks Simple Start 2008.
Here are some of the topics covered in the seven chapters of Learning Accounting Essentials:
- Getting Started — setting up a company; adding accounts
- Orientation — getting around in Simple Start
- Bookkeeping Basics — financial statements; account types
- Money In — billing, invoicing, payments, deposits
- Money Out — checks, expenses, purchase reports
- Essential Tasks — reconciling the bank account; backing up the company file
- Managing Your Business — interpreting financial statements; planning; systematizing
QuickBooks Simple Start includes practical tools for managing essential tasks, such as invoicing, creating sales receipts, recording payments, and writing checks for expenses. Although Simple Start is structured for a standard business, it will serve the basic accounting needs of a small nonprofit as well.
QuickBooks Simple Start is intended for first-time QuickBooks users or those who upgrade from previous versions of Simple Start. It cannot use information from QuickBooks Basic, Pro, or Premier. When an organization is ready to upgrade, Simple Start can automatically transfer data to QuickBooks Online Edition or QuickBooks Pro and Premier.
