Description

Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition is a suite of three products that integrate protection technologies such as antivirus, antispyware, desktop firewall, and intrusion prevention to offer multilayered security and backup-and-recovery capabilities.

Symantec Protection Suite Small Business Edition incorporates these products:

  • Symantec Endpoint Protection Small Business Edition: protects networked laptops, desktops, and servers ("endpoints") against viruses, worms, Trojan horses, spyware, adware, rootkits, and threats not seen before ("zero-day attacks")
  • Symantec Mail Security for Microsoft Exchange: combines antivirus technologies with flexible content filtering for Exchange Server
  • Symantec System Recovery Desktop Edition: recovers individual data files and folders or complete Windows desktops or laptops, including recovery to different hardware, virtual environments, or remote locations

Each user license allows one endpoint to be protected by all the products in the suite. This donation includes a one-year subscription for use of the product, protection updates, and new product features.

New in This Version

This version adds support for Mac OS X endpoints. New Insight technology identifies rapidly mutating threats and also speeds up scans by examining only files at risk. Proactive threat scanning now uses SONAR 3 technology.

Same as Retail Version

This product is identical to the version sold through the Symantec website and includes the standard support, renewal, and upgrade options available with retail products.

Obtaining This Product

Expect two emails. When your donation request has been approved, TechSoup will send a message to your organization email address with preliminary information about obtaining this product. Shortly after, the donor partner will send an email with information needed to complete the installation or activation.

Symantec System Recovery Desktop Edition

      • Symantec Recovery Disk: 1 GB minimum (dedicated)

      • 430 MB available hard-disk space
      • Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0: 280 MB for 32-bit computers; 610 MB for 64-bit computers
      • Recovery points: Sufficient hard-disk space on a local hard disk or network server for storing recovery points
      • System Recovery LightsOut Restore feature: 2 GB
    • CD or DVD drive:
      • The drive can be any speed, but it must be bootable from the BIOS in order to boot the Symantec System Recovery Disk CD-ROM. Symantec System Recovery uses Gear Software technology. To verify that your CD or DVD writer is compatible, visit http://www.gearsoftware.com/support/recorders/index.cfm. You can look up information about your writer if you know the name of the manufacturer and model number.

Rules, Eligibility and Restrictions

  • Donated product will be distributed under this program to qualifying organizations only, not to individuals.
  • Two Symantec Norton products and two Symantec Enterprise products may be requested within a fiscal year (July 1 to June 30).
  • Up to 100 licenses may be requested for each product except Backup Exec products, for which 1 license may be requested.
  • Eligible organizations must have an annual operating budget of less than $10 million.
  • This donation is available to nonprofits with 501(c)(3) designation and to public libraries. Public libraries must either have valid 501(c)(3) nonprofit status or be listed in the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) database.
  • This donation will not be made available to some student groups or academic organizations, employee or membership benefit organizations, some social or recreational clubs, Boy Scouts, organizations that support political parties or candidates, advocacy groups, or faith-based organizations whose primary mission is religious (see Serving Faith-Based Organizations with Technology Donations).
  • Organizations that advocate, support, or practice discrimination based on age, ethnicity, gender, national origin, disability, race, size, religion, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background are not eligible to participate in this program. Organizations must be willing and able to attest that they do not discriminate on any of these grounds in order to receive donations.
  • Symantec products may not be transferred or resold.
