MediaCoder is a program that can convert ("transcode") to and from different audio and video formats. It has a relatively simple to use user interface, and does not require other programs to perform its function. For advanced users there are many configurable options available, and can be an important tool in your multimedia toolkit.

- Very difficult for novice users such as myself, took a lot of effort to get exactly what I wanted. The 'subscription' referred to by another reviewer I believe is from a codec the user had, not from Mediacoder itself.

Get it, try it... if it works for you you are in luck and no out-of-pocket. The review above is wrong in regards to the cost of MediaCoder... the basic version is donation-ware. They do offer a premium version for $299. Have fun!

@jditch: Based on personal experience since this software's early version, it does not require a subscription, nor would a banner be displayed. Where are you getting this information and can you cite a source?

If the product is going to be listed as free, then it needs to be free. They are many other software products that do the same thing and cost less. Why is this one listed here?
