Nov 15, 2007
For Immediate Release
San Francisco, CA – November 15, 2007 – TechSoup and Mailshell, Inc. today announced the fifth annual “Stop Spam Today!” campaign , a month-long nationwide effort to help nonprofits and public libraries fight spam by providing free information, resources and tools. The campaign culminates on December 5th in a one-day giveaway where nonprofits and libraries can get free copies of Mailshell’s Anti-Spam Desktop software. More than 350,000 copies of free anti-spam software, with a retail value of more than $6.6 million, have been donated in the previous four “Stop Spam Today!” events.
For just 24 hours on December 5, 2007, qualified public libraries, nonprofits, and charitable organizations in the U.S. and Canada can request Mailshell’s Anti-Spam Desktop software. Organizations can verify their eligibility by pre-registering at TechSoup Stock before December 5, 2007. There is no cost to register or to participate in the program. Pre-registration starts the qualification process and expedites order processing and delivery.
“Every year, there is a tidal wave of response,” said Roger Abraham, Senior Director of TechSoup Stock. “Nonprofits realize that having a healthy and secure technology infrastructure is the first step toward reliably protecting their organizations from the risks of spam and the associated dangers, such as viruses, spyware and other malware that are often delivered via email spam.”
The December 5th giveaway comes at the end of a push to educate nonprofits via articles, discussions and tools featured on the TechSoup site. Nonprofits can visit www.techsoup.org to share strategies for fighting spam in the security forum, access free downloads of TechSoup’s Healthy and Secure Computing Program’s Healthy & Secure Computing Workbook and TechSoup’s spam prevention toolkit, in addition to viewing articles such as "Don’t Get Lured by Phishing Scams", about spam-related topics.
